| Ok, so I have an amazing dress. It has worked from size 22 at the start of the season down to my current size 12. But I have just about exhausted my creative methods of taking it in. I need new garb. Even though I removed the center back and am overlapping the two sides it isn't snug enough. So I figured I needed to get cracking on a new set. It could never be as beautiful as what Bebhain made, but I can make something passable. So, I thought I had it figured out. I could make a new gown this week and have something that fit me for Folsom tomorrow. Then the machines didn't cooperate. My serger (which has never given me more than a 15 min grumble fit, as I completely re-thread it) decided to suck a chunk of fabric off of my sewing project (I was trying to take in some of my enormous clothing) And I will need to disasseble it slightly to get that going again. I was not worried however, because my trusty singer has never failed me. Til now. it is jamming and won't be unjammed. I have the fabric selected, prewashed, pattern drafted (had to modify from last dress) and the pieces are cut out. Two cotton canvas layers and one oyster white cotton brocade fashion faric layer. I decided to use cable ties (because I had them already) as the boning in the dress (the corset always uses spring steel stays, but the dress can use something lighter).
I am so busy lately. I will have to wait a while to get the machines sorted out. Tonight we leave for Folsom. We will get back late on Suday, Monday I will unpack from faire (after I get home from work around 6 pm and go for a 2 mile walk). Tuesday I have a friend performing at a club in San Leandro. Wednesday night I will be walking around the lake with Dan. Thursday night is Thrillville's October event http://www.thrillville.net/calendar It promises to be super sleazy and I cannot resist that. That takes me to Friday which means Friday Night Gathering (theme is wrapped foods this time and I am planning on Lumpia). Maybe next Saturday will yield a few moments to deal with my sewing room situation. I can't really complain about having a busy, happy, full life and losing weight to the point of needing new pretty clothes. | | |
| This almost never happens. Dan is sick! He has a cold/flu whatever thingie, and is coughing and phlegmy and such. not so bad he is bedridden, just nursing his illness shrouded in sweatpants and carrying tissues around all day. Now if you live with Dan, you know that when he catches one of these things it usually bounces off before it sinks in. As in, Myrriah gets it and is sick for a week, I catch it and miss two days work, then Dan coughs and sneezes one night before bed, clears his throat before going in to the office the next day and is over it. . . . This concerns me, last week he discovered the joys of sciatica. . . so he is getting older. Since he is 7 years my junior, this is disconcerting. I need to get us started on yoga, and get a regular exercise routine. It is odd timing, I am gettng stronger and healthier everyday. I want us to get healthier together, we need to work on that. It is kind of nice hanging out all day together, tho. . . .made a nice Shepherd's Pie with minced lamb. Now we are having a True Blood marathon, projecting in the front room. | | |
| I am a woman in transition. I have lost 114 lbs at this point, 48 lbs since surgery. I have so much more energy now, can go for long walks and not hurt. I love being able to keep up with Dan and not feel like I hold him back.My biggest prob these days is clothes, I have gotten down to a size 18 and don't want to invest much in a wardrobe when I intend to keep losing weight. I finally broke down and bought some nice stuff though, just because the weight loss seems to have slowed down enough that it is worth it. I have to wear something . . . regardless of what my husband says.Tahoe Faire - Valhalla Great event, two weekends at South Lake Tahoe. The first week Dan discovered the joys of sciatica. Had to take him to Urgent Care at the break of dawn Sunday morning, and keep him on pain killers until Monday after traffic to drive him home. good thing we were already planning to leave our stuff on-site during the week. I would have had a hard time bringing everything home and put away on my own. He was better by the time we went up for the 2nd weekend (June 6-7). It rained cats and dogs on saturday and was perfect weather on sunday . . . go figure. I am so glad he got better, poor fellow doesn't need to know about such unpleasant things. | | |
| Things are going well, I am feeling like I am pretty much over the major grief of Mom's death. I was struggling for a while. but am starting to find my new identity. It was as if I did not know who I was without her in my life. | | |
